Lewis Creek Projects
The City of Staunton and the Lewis Creek Watershed Advisory Committee have completed work on projects to improve the quality of water in Lewis Creek. The creek, with its tributaries, drains a big part of Staunton and is a visible part of downtown.
In July 2006 the City was awarded a $76,500 grant from the state's Department of Conservation and Recreation's Water Quality Improvement Fund for the construction of a bio-retention filter and two rain garden demonstration projects.
The grant pays for all expenses and the City contributes staff time
as its share.
