Design Guidelines for Each Corridor
The Design Guidelines are not laws, they are recommendations, developed through a public process and formally adopted by City Council. Each set of Design Guidelines focuses on identifying and amplifying the unique strengths of each corridor and encourages development that perpetuates, rather than erases, the existing character of each corridor. On February 10, 2011 each set of design guidelines was amended by Staunton's City Council adding diagrams describing general types of roofs and their relationship to building walls and recommending when the areas of any parcel beyond 1,200 feet from an adjacent corridor are not visible from an adjacent corridor, that the areas not visible from an adjacent corridor be exempt from the Design Guidelines.
