How to Vote
In order to vote in Virginia you must meet the following qualifications:

Your home must be in Virginia; |

You must be a U.S. citizen; |

You must be 18 years of age or will be 18 by the next general election. You may register when you are 17; |

If you have been convicted of a felony, your right to vote must be restored; |

If you have been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent, your right to vote must be restored; |

You must not claim the right to vote in another state. |
Registered voters may vote by absentee ballot if they are unable to vote in person. To receive a ballot, you may call, write or stop by any voter registrar's office and ask for an absentee ballot application. Mailed or faxed applications must be received in the office of the registrar by Thursday before the election. If applying in person, you must complete the application by 5:00 p.m. the Saturday before the election.
