Have you ever thought about hiking the Appalachian Trail?
Come "hike" with Lauralee Bliss (trail name, Blissful) as she takes you along the 600 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia, and see some of the gear used on the trail.
Join her virtual hike starting in Damascus and heading north to include the famous Grayson Highlands and the wild ponies, McAfee Knob ' the most photographic point on the trail, through the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah National Park. Learn about this roughly 600-mile segment of the famous trail that runs from Georgia to Maine and how to safely enjoy it in all seasons.
Blissful is a noted 4,000 miler through the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, completing the Appalachian Trail both north with her teen son, and south as a solo hiker. Other hiking credits include the Colorado Trail, the Long Trail, the Foothills Trail, the Allegheny Trail, the Florida Trail, the Massanutten trail system of VA, and 500 miles of side trails in Shenandoah National Park.
Blissful is an avid adventurer, having completed the Appalachian Trail both north and south, one of the few women to accomplish this feat (and perhaps the only woman in her age group). Lauralee worked five years as the ridge runner for Shenandoah National Park through the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club. She is also a noted speaker, having led workshops for REI, ALDHA, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Shenandoah National Park, Trail Dames, libraries, and school groups.
She is the founder of the Facebook groups Appalachian Trail Section Hikers with over 18,000 members and Shenandoah National Park Hikers. She is a member of ATC, PATC, and ALDHA. In her spare time, Lauralee also likes to write inspirational fiction and has over 20 published titles to her credit.
