Library Book Sale Begins April 17
APRIL 11, 2018 — The Friends of the Staunton Library will kick off its annual book sale next Tuesday, April 17.
The nonprofit hosts large book sales twice a year on the second floor of the Staunton Public Library, and ongoing sales from book carts near the circulation desks. Book sales are significant fundraisers for the library, and donated materials and volunteer help are welcomed and appreciated for the sales.
Sarah Skrobis, the library’s director, said: “This is one of the big annual money-raisers for the Friends of the Staunton Library, and they pour those funds right back into the library’s operations by funding programs for families, staff training opportunities, new furniture, and so much more. And there’s always a treasure to be found amongst all the donated items!”
Members of the Friends of the Library will get to shop early from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 17. Anyone can become a member for as little as $10 on Tuesday to be admitted to the Members’ Preview for the best selection. Most items are priced between 25 cents and $2.
The remainder of the sale will occur sale will occur as follows:
- 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 18
- 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 19
- 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 20
- 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 21 – fill a bag for $3
- 1 to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 22 – fill a bag for $1
Teachers, students, and nonprofits can come and get free books from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on the final two days of the sale – April 21 and 22.
