You’re Invited: Farewell Coffee & Doughnuts with Steve Owen
The public is invited to participate in a celebratory sendoff for Steve Owen as he retires from the position of city manager after 12 years of service to the City of Staunton and 38 years of public service in local government.
The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 26 at the
R.R. Smith Center for History and Art, located at 22 S. New St. in Staunton. Coffee, juice and doughnuts will be available for visitors to enjoy while they last, as they share well wishes with Mr. Owen before he leaves his post on June 30.

JOB POSTING - ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
The City of Staunton is seeking an innovative leader who will be a critical and highly visible leader on the management team, supporting the City Manager in creating a desirable community that provides high-quality services.
The Assistant City Manager has primary responsibility for assisting the City Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City, providing expert advice and assistance to the City Manager, department heads and senior managers. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned manager, collaborative leader, team player and self-directed problem-solver, who can serve as a mentor and coach to City staff.
Requires a master’s degree in public administration, related field or equivalent amount of training and experience. Considerable professional experience in finance, budget and program/service development and evaluation and general knowledge of a minimum of three department areas in local government is preferred. A commitment to diversity, customer service and citizen involvement is required. Must also be committed to continual development and learning.
