JUNE 4, 2020:

Mobile COVID-19 Testing Friday, June 5 - GHP Gym Parking Lot
Please note that the free mobile COVID-19 testing that will occur from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, June 5 will be held in the Gypsy Hill Park Gym Parking Lot, not indoors. The testing is available on a first come first serve basis and no appointment is required. Residents who want to participate should wear face coverings, practice 6-feet social distancing and to let the healthcare worker know if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Free PPE Kits For Businesses and Non-profits
The Staunton Augusta Waynesboro MSA Recovery Task Force, created by the local governments and agencies to work together toward recovery, are offering free PPE kits - that include masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, disinfectant, printed signs and a how to open guide - on a first-come, first served basis for 200 local businesses and nonprofits. BRITE Downtown Saturday Night Trolley Detour
Starting tomorrow, Friday, June 5 at 5 p.m., the Downtown Staunton Night Trolley will be detoured because of Dine Out in Downtown. Stops that will be missed during this period are the Beverley Street at City Hall, the Staunton Visitor Center, Beverley Street and Market Street and Stonewall Jackson Hotel stops. 

Dine Out in Downtown Starts Tomorrow
A reminder to citizens that Dine Out in Downtown starts tomorrow, Friday, June 5 at 5 p.m. Participating restaurants include Baja Bean Co. BLUPoint Seafood Co., Clocktower Eats & Sweets, The Green Room, Shenandoah Pizza & Taphouse, Shenandoah Valley Brewing Co., Yelping Dog Wine and 101 West Beverley. Dominion Energy Boosts Support for Customers
Dominion Energy Virginia is expanding assistance to Virginia customers facing hardship, offering a more generous payment plan and new direct assistance, while asking permission from regulators for an additional four-month extension of the "no disconnection" policy.  Customers are encouraged to work with Dominion to develop payment plans for their unique circumstances.

Payment Plans: Dominion offers both short-term payment extensions and long-term payment plans to help customers manage balances. Starting June 15, they will expand their long-term payment plans and offer customers up to 12 months to pay past due amounts, with no minimum down payment required. Customers can access options through their online account at www.dominionenergy.com, which is available at any time, or by calling 866.366.4357.

Payment Assistance: Dominion is increasing the benefits made available through EnergyShare, a year-round assistance program for individuals and families facing financial hardship. The Virginia program, supported currently with $13 million in annual corporate contributions, is implemented in partnership with relief and community support agencies. Planned changes include:

  • Effective June 1, the maximum benefit is increased to $1,200 for this year, up from $900.
  • Customers under the age of 60 are now eligible to receive funds without a disconnect notice, similar to customers 60 and over.
  • Dominion intends to implement a temporary program to help small business customers and details will be shared when available.
