Nov. 8, 2024 – To assist residents with fallen leaves, the City of Staunton is kicking off its annual leaf collection program beginning in mid-November and continuing through early January.

Residents who would like to participate should rake their leaves to the curb or street right-of-way. Keep leaves away from gutters and remove rocks and debris for pickup. The city will not attempt to collect leaf piles containing debris as they can damage the machinery.

Crews will begin leaf collection the week of Nov. 18, 2024, and continue as crews are available for the next few months. Leaf collection will begin in the northwestern portion of the city and move in phases around Staunton, as shown in the map below. There will be a final, city-wide leaf collection in January.

Be aware that winter weather events and other priorities may take precedence. Leaf collection will not occur on city holidays, including Nov. 28-29., Dec. 24-25, and Jan. 1.

Individual street schedules cannot be provided.

The city will provide the collected leaves to local farms for composting.
