Opioid Abatement: Grant Funding Application

The Cities of Staunton and Waynesboro, along with Augusta County, are pleased to announce the availability of grant funding through the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority (VOAA). This opportunity will support projects and initiatives that address the ongoing opioid crisis in our region.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025. Eligible organizations are encouraged to submit proposals that focus on prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction efforts designed to reduce the impact of opioid use on individuals, families, and communities. See the complete Needs Assessment Report for the SAW region published in September 2024.

To maximize the impact of available resources, the three localities are working as a cooperative partnership. This joint approach gives the region the best chance of securing the most funding possible from the VOAA to support opioid abatement projects locally.

Training Sessions

To assist potential applicants, two optional training sessions will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 22:

  • In-Person Training
    • 9:30 a.m. at the Augusta County Government Center, Smith Room East
  • Virtual Training
    • 5:30 p.m. access code provided after registration

Both sessions will provide detailed guidance on eligibility, application requirements, and funding priorities. Registration is highly encouraged, and can be completed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OAAFY27.

“Our communities have been deeply affected by the opioid epidemic,” said Director of the Community Action Partnership of Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro (CAPSAW) Anna Leavitt. “This funding is a critical opportunity to invest in local solutions that will save lives and build healthier futures.”
