Feb. 10, 2026 – The Fiscal Year 2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) budget process is underway for Staunton City Council. The budget calendar was first presented to City Council in September. Through late January, efforts focused on estimating revenues and working through budget requests from departments and outside agencies.
City Council held a joint work session with the Staunton City School Board on Jan. 22, in which they discussed the FY 2027 school budget and their capital budget priorities.
The proposed budget will be presented to City Council by City Manager Leslie Beauregard on March 26. There will be multiple work sessions and public hearings throughout the budget process giving community members many opportunities to provide comment. The work sessions and public hearings are listed below:

- 7:00 p.m. – Public hearing on all budget ordinances

- 7:00 p.m. – Adoption of the City of Staunton FY 2027 Budget and FY 2027-2031 Capital Improvement Plan
