Share Your Voice in Staunton's Community Survey

overallperceptionsEvery two years, the City of Staunton conducts a community survey to gather resident input. This helps City Council and staff understand what matters most and where limited funding should be focused.

Staunton is doing this through the National Community Survey (NCS), giving our community members an opportunity to answer questions covering a wide range of topics including city services, utilities, safety, and quality of life.

Approximately 3,000 randomly selected households will receive invitations to participate in the mail. In the most recently completed survey (January 2024) more than 1 in 5 residents responded, giving the city a solid baseline for future comparisons and important feedback.

In addition to the randomly sampled survey, a community-wide online version of the survey is also made available to all residents.

Current Survey - Fall 2025

The city had an opportunity to start this year's survey a few months early, making responses and fresh data available for the upcoming budget process.

  • Postcards were mailed to randomly selected households beginning Sept. 30.
  • The community-wide online survey will go live Oct. 28,. All Staunton residents are encouraged to participate.
  • Both surveys will close Nov. 11.
  • Results for these surveys are expected in early 2026.

Thank you for your participation and your time as you make Staunton an even better place to live and work!
