The City of Staunton’s Flood Resilience Plan was officially adopted by City Council on August 27, 2026, following approval by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

The goal of this plan is to help Staunton better prepare for, respond to, and recover from flood events through proactive infrastructure planning, nature-based solutions, and community-wide strategies.

Formally adopting this plan positions the city to apply for key state and federal funding opportunities, including the Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund (CFPF), to help finance future resilience and stormwater projects.
