The Library is a great place for kids!

We offer many activities for children to enjoy, including:

  • A play area for children
  • Two touchscreen computer stations
  • DVDs, Books on CD, and Music CDs for children
  • Family-friendly magazines available for browsing and checkout
  • A colorful and welcoming program room
  • Programs for kids from birth through 5th grade
  • Puppets, with many puppet & book kits available for checkout
  • Nature backpacks available for checkout
  • Playaway Launchpad tablets available for checkout
  • A puzzle table for young guests of all ages
  • A 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program that develops literacy from a young age

Children's Early Literacy Stations

Two touchscreen Early Literacy Stations are located on the ground floor of the Library,  featuring more than 30 programs. There is also a computer with internet access filtered especially for children.  Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult to use the internet computer.

Regular Programs

  • Mother Goose Time: A language enrichment program featuring rhymes, songs, and movement for children aged birth to 2 years.
  • Toddlertime: 2 and 3 year olds accompanied by an adult will enjoy this 20-minute storytime featuring puppets, rhymes, and songs.
  • Preschool Storytime: Stories come alive in this 30-minute storytime for children aged 3-5 years.
  • A Little Cool Stuff: Join us for storytime fun when books coupled with art, food, or game activities are presented for preschoolers, kindergartners, and 1st graders.
  • Cool Stuff After School: 2nd through 5th graders will be excited to learn about their world through stories and hands-on activities featuring art, cooking, science, and much more.

Early World of Learning
World Book Online’s early childhood digital resource, is a child’s first encyclopedia, eBook, and introduction to core early concepts.  With read-aloud across all functions, the 60 stories in “World of Reading” and “Trek’s Travels” tie learning together through videos, games, and printable activities.  Twelve stories are available in both Spanish and English, and the worksheets also offer written instructions in Spanish.  Classic songs, nursery rhymes, and fairy tales complete the program, and are often included in the lesson plan for each story.

Cricket Media Collection
The eBook Cricket Media Collection includes more than 400 titles in eBook format and is suitable for Children grades Pre-K through 8th. Cricket is an internationally recognized education company with award-winning print content for children, families and educators. Cricket is focused on engage children in a wide variety of subjects and disciplines helping them explore and expand their worlds from Ebsco.

Kids InfoBits
Kids InfoBits meets the research needs of students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. It features a developmentally appropriate, visually graphic interface, a subject-based topic tree search and full-text, age-appropriate, curriculum-related magazine, newspaper and reference content for information on current events, the arts, science, health, people, government, history, sports and more.
