Changes in Recycling Program

As of April 1, 2019, the City will no longer collect plastic of any sort for recycling. This is a result of changes implemented by the area's only recycling processor due to a stressed recycling market.

Plastic is to be disposed of as regular trash. Also, the City's recycling center in Gypsy Hill Park has been closed.

What We Collect

The City will continue its curbside collection of the items listed below:

  • Mixed paper, such as magazines, newspapers, phone books, hard and soft bound books, poster board, food container boxes, office paper, folders, envelopes and brochures
  • Cardboard (folded flat)
  • Glass that is clear, green and brown (crushed and used as cover at the regional landfill)
  • Metal cans
  • Aluminum cans

Please rinse out containers and sort items into separate bins by material before collection.

About the Recycling Program

The City collects items for recycling on the same days as residential trash, except for those located in the Central Business District (CBD).

There is a $25 service fee for the use of three recycling bins issued by the City. This fee is refunded when you close your account if the bins are returned in reasonably good condition.

Central Business District (CBD) Collection
Recycling is collected on Mondays and Thursdays in the CBD, including cardboard. Cardboard boxes should be broken down and stacked for pick up.
