Home MenuYard Waste Collection
Residential customers have the option to enroll in a yard waste collection program and receive a dedicated, different 95-gallon container with a beige lid specifically for yard waste.
The refuse crews will collect these yard waste containers once a month - typically on the first Wednesday of the month. If a city holiday (calendar) falls in the first week of the month, yard waste pickup will be delayed one week.
Residents who wish to enroll will pay a one-time, refundable $50 deposit that will show up on their next utility bill.
To get the process started and apply for a yard waste bin, please fill out this online form.
Until you receive a dedicated yard waste bin, you may put bagged yard waste in your city-issued trash bin. This will be taken to the active landfill.
How it works
Customers with a yard waste bin should fill it with unbagged yard waste only:
- leaves
- grass clippings
- small sticks and branches
- hedge trimmings & small prunings
- flowers
- straw
This does not include:
- tree stumps (stumps are stored someplace else at the landfill)
- dirt
- renovation materials
- lumber treated wood
- sawdust
- wooden pallets
Put your bin by the curb, just like you would your trash, on the specified day each month. This will typically be on the first Wednesday of the month, however the schedule is subject to change due to holidays or severe weather.
On the yard waste pickup day, refuse crews will collect these yard waste bins with the regular trash truck. Because the truck will only be filled with yard waste, it will be taken to the brush pile at the landfill.
This program will save the city money and be better for the environment. Disposing yard waste this way will save landfill space and stop the city from being charged trash tonnage at the landfill for yard debris.
