The City of Staunton provides water, sewer, trash and recycling services. All other utilities are provided by private companies (listed below).
Setting Up Utilities
Homeowners
You can establish your water and sewer account before your closing date. To get started:

Step 1: Set up the account. Call the Public Works Department at 540.332.3892 or visit our office at 1911 Craigmont Road.

Step 2: Provide documentation. After closing on your home, bring your deed, settlement statement, or closing disclosure to the Public Works office to finalize your setup.
Tenants
To set up water and sewer service, you must visit the Public Works Department in person at 1911 Craigmont Road.
Please bring the following with you:

A copy of your lease

A valid photo ID

A payment of $160 (Payable by cash, check, or credit card. This covers your deposit and processing fees; a portion of this amount will be credited back to you when your account is closed.)
Terminating Utilities
A property owner or tenant may terminate water and sewer service by contacting Public Works. Until service is terminated, the minimum charge for water service will continue to be billed, regardless of how much is used.
