Home MenuWater Treatment
The City owns, operates, and maintains an 8.0 million gallon per day (MGD) conventional water treatment plant. Our primary water sources include a natural underground spring and reservoirs.
Drinking Water Quality Report
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) inspects the quality of Staunton’s drinking water, and the Public Works Department publishes a Drinking Water Quality Report annually.
The City’s drinking water consistently meets all water quality standards and regulations. Staunton’s Water Treatment Plant has won awards from the VDH Office of Drinking Water Virginia Optimization Program for 19 consecutive years. This program recognizes those who provide quality water that far exceeds minimum regulatory standards and operate their water systems in an exemplary manner.
Questions about your water, its source, or how it is treated should be directed to the water treatment plant's chief operator at 540.332.3961.
