Jason Ball was named the new Fire Chief for the City of Staunton in September 2024. Ball had been serving as the interim Fire Chief since April 2024.

Chief Ball has been with Staunton Fire and Rescue since 1998 where he quickly rose to Lieutenant, then Captain and Shift Commander, and then Deputy Fire Chief of Operations in 2012. He started his firefighting career volunteering at Weyers Cave Fire Company in 1994. He has a degree in occupational safety and health with a fire science concentration from Columbia Southern University. Ball continues to push Staunton Fire and Rescue forward, taking advantage of improving technology to better serve the people of Staunton.

“I am honored to continue serving the City of Staunton and the men and women of our entire department as the Fire Chief,” said Ball. “The safety of our residents and visitors is paramount to me and our department. I look forward to working hard, continuing to strengthen our ties in the community and the service we provide.”
